I'm Alexandra Basabe, founder of Gotham Business Services, and I know construction accounting because I grew up in it.
My dad ran a drywall company for 55 years, and in January 2017 I started working in his office. For seven years I did just about everything: bookkeeping, payroll, lien releases, insurance audits, collections, and every other administrative task you can think of.
When he retired, I knew I wanted to stay in construction accounting. I love this industry and the people behind it. I also had a seven-month-old son at home, and I wanted to build a business that let me do meaningful work while being there for him.
Today I help GCs and subs across the country get clean books, see their true job profitability, and stay ready for tax time.
